The communications center alerted Station 11, Rescue & Engine 25 and Engine 13, for residential fire. 25-8 arrived moments later and reported smoke showing and confirmed a fire in the kitchen. This report upgraded the response to a working alarm. Rescue 20 made the response as the RIT, under command of Chief Willis with a crew of 5. While responding, a Mayday was declared that a FF from 11 fell through the 1st floor into the basement, which was involved with fire. As crews were attempting to pull him out, a 2nd FF fell through the 1st floor into the basement on the opposite side of the house. A second mayday was declared and crews were able to successfully remove both FF's to safety and both were treated and released with minor injuries. Rescue 20 stood fast as the RIT and assisted with throwing ladders and outside vent.
