1st Due Working Residential Fire - Unit BLK of South St (Hamilton Park)

The communications center alerted Station 20, Engine 22, Rescue/Engine 28/32 and Ladder 18 for a residential fire. 20-5 made the response under command of Assistant Chief Maxwell with a crew of 5. 20-5 stretched in from New Castle Ave/South St and arrived to find a 1 story SFD with nothing evident from the exterior. 20-5's crew pulled 1" 3/4 to the front door and forced the door and was met with a heavy smoke condition. Command upgraded the response to a working alarm assignment adding: Station 13 for the RIT, Salem Co Tower 7, Engine 23, A-23, Medic 8, ALS 22 and DSFMO. 20-5's crew found the bulk of the fire in the kitchen with some extension and quickly knocked down the fire. 28-6 arrived and was assigned as the primary search group (which was proved to be negative) and to outside vent. Engine 22 arrived and was assigned to back up 20-5's crew and check for fire extension. Ladder 18 arrived and was assigned to the Roof Division and performed vertical ventialtion as well as throwing ground ladders. Rescue 20 made the response under command of firefighter Wipf with a crew of 4. Rescue 20 arrived and assisted with overhaul operations and filling SCBA's. Salem Co Tower 7 and Engine 23 were redirected to cover Station 20. Command placed situation under control and 20 units operated a little over an hour.
