Surface Water and Dive Team Respond to Odessa - Appoquinimink Creek Odessa, DE

At 1736 hrs. the 911 center alerted Station 24, Marine units 27, 29, NCC Dive Team, NCC Surface Water Team, New Castle County Medic 5, and Delaware State Police Aviation Unit Trooper 4 to water rescue with a person trapped inside a sinking vehicle. The vehicle was witnessed by several motorist traveling southbound on DuPont Parkway at Appoquinimink Creek when the vehicle suddenly plunged in between the overpass. Deputy 24 Set up command in the rear of Rescue 24 and deployed numerous firefighters and Surface Rescue Technicians to the banks of the Appoquinimink.
Boat crews from Odessa, Port Penn, Middletown, Delaware City, Holloway Terrace and Minquas searched the area for hours before finding the vehicle at 2059hrs. Divers entered the water and removed one person from inside the vehicle.
