William “Bill” J. Maxwell, Sr., age 79, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, February 15th, 2024.

Born in Honolulu, HI on April 6, 1944, he was a son of the late Harry C. and Ida (Ledo) Maxwell, Sr. Bill dedicated his life to his family, as well as Emergency Services.

He served for six years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Prairie during the Vietnam War.  Bill retired from the New Castle County Division of Emergency Medical Services after 30 years of service as a Paramedic.  In addition, he was also a dedicated life member of the Holloway Terrace Fire Company, where he held many offices and eventually was named a Chief Emeritus.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Maxwell. He is survived by his sons, William (Nicole), Harry, Michael (Tina), and Robert (Susan); eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Paul (Jane); and sister, Marie (Mike).

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, February 26, at Holloway Terrace Fire Company, 700 West Avenue, New Castle, DE 19720, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately for family.
